What is Fablespin?
Fablespin creates personalised AI bedtime stories for children. A parent sets up a short profile for their child (first name, age, interests) and Fablespin generates a story tailored to them, with optional narration and illustrations depending on your plan.
Getting started
How do I create a story?
Open Fablespin, sign in, and set up a profile for your child. Then tap to create a story, choose a theme, setting, and mood, and Fablespin generates it for you. You can read it on screen or play the narration.
Is Fablespin safe for my child?
Fablespin is built for children. Stories are generated with content-safety measures designed to keep them age-appropriate, there is no advertising, and there are no chat or social features. Stories are AI-generated, so we recommend a parent reviews a story before sharing it with a child. If anything ever looks wrong, email us at support@fablespin.app.
Can I add more than one child?
Yes. You can create a profile for each child and switch between them. Each child gets stories tailored to their own name, age, and interests.
Plans and features
What is the difference between Free, Family, and Premium?
The free tier lets you create up to 5 stories a month for one child, with 1 warm narration included (after which narration falls back to your device's built-in voice), choosing from our curated lists of themes and settings. Family raises that to 30 stories a month across up to 4 children, with 10 warm narrations, a gentle watercolour illustration on every story, and the option to type your own themes and settings. Premium gives you 60 stories a month across up to 6 children, 30 narrations a month (then on-device) with a choice of three storytellers (Alfie, with a warm British accent, is the default; Rosie and Teddy offer gentle and deep American voices), and 2–3 illustrations on every story. The exact features and limits of each plan are shown in the app when you choose a plan.
How do I choose my child's storyteller?
On Premium, choose each child's storyteller (Alfie, Rosie, or Teddy) when you set up their profile, or any time later in Edit profile. On Free and Family, everyone hears Alfie.
Can I give the hero a companion?
Yes. When you build a story, you can add a sidekick. A short description works best, for example "Biscuit, a small brown puppy" rather than just "Biscuit". Fablespin keeps the details you give, so the companion looks and sounds the same in the story, on the cover, and in every illustration.
How much does Fablespin cost?
Fablespin Family is £5.99/month or £47.99/year. Fablespin Premium is £11.99/month or £99.99/year. New subscribers to the Family monthly plan get a 7-day free trial. Prices may vary by region.
Subscriptions and billing
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Apple, not inside Fablespin. On your device, go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, select Fablespin, and change or cancel your plan there. You'll keep access to your paid plan until the end of the period you've already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I cancel my free trial?
Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. If you don't cancel, the trial converts to a paid monthly subscription.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support. We're not able to issue refunds directly, but if something went wrong, let us know at support@fablespin.app and we'll help where we can.
Privacy and your data
What information does Fablespin collect?
Only what's needed to generate a story: your child's first name, age, and interests, which you provide. We don't collect contact details from your child, we don't show ads, and we don't sell data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete a child's profile?
Open the profile, choose to delete it, and confirm. This removes that child's information and their stories.
How do I delete my account and all my data?
In Fablespin, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account and confirm. Settings are behind the grown-up PIN, so you'll unlock first. This permanently deletes your profiles, saved stories, and associated account data. This cannot be undone. If you need help, email support@fablespin.app and we'll assist.
Parental controls
Can my child change settings or make purchases?
No. Settings, subscriptions, and account controls live behind a grown-up PIN. The first time you open a grown-up area, Fablespin asks you to choose a 4 digit PIN, and you can unlock with Face ID or Touch ID after that. Parental controls are included on every plan, including Free.
Can I leave my child listening to a story on their own?
Yes. Tap the padlock in the story reader to turn on Story Lock. Little fingers can press play and pause, but nothing else: no skipping, restarting, or wandering off to other stories. To unlock, tap the padlock and confirm it's you with Face ID or your grown-up PIN. If you also want to stop your child leaving the Fablespin app itself, use Apple's Guided Access: set it up in iOS Settings under Accessibility, then triple click the side button.
I forgot my grown-up PIN. What do I do?
Tap "Forgot the PIN?" on the unlock screen. Confirm it's you with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode, then choose a new PIN.
Using the app
Can my child re-read stories offline?
Yes. Stories you've already created, including their narration, can be re-read offline. Creating a new story needs an internet connection.
A story didn't generate, or narration failed. What should I do?
Check your internet connection and try again. Long stories take a little longer to write, usually under two minutes, so give them a moment. If narration doesn't load, the app falls back to on-device narration automatically. If a problem keeps happening, email support@fablespin.app with your device model and iOS version.
The storyteller says my child's name wrong. Can I fix it?
Yes. Add a "sounds like" spelling in your child's profile, for example Eye-la for Isla, and tap Hear it to check it by ear before saving. The written story always keeps the real spelling; only the narration uses the "sounds like" version. This is available on every plan. Stories narrated before you add it keep their original audio.
How does syncing across my devices work?
Your library syncs through your own iCloud account to other Apple devices signed in with the same Apple ID. Make sure iCloud is enabled in your device settings.
